Iraq’s ambitious Al Faw Grand Port just might change the trajectory of the country forever. Its aim is to rival existing global trade hubs by offering a convenient alternative to the Suez Canal. With deep-water facilities, the world's longest breakwater (at an enormous 14.5-kilometres), and a $19.9BN transport corridor, this is easily the biggest infrastructure project in Iraqi history. But this isn't the first time a country has attempted to change its fate with an opportune megaproject. The question is: can Iraq pull it off?
Designed by Foster + Partners, the £2BN new stadium at Old Trafford will form part of a wider regeneration that could add £7.3BN to the UK economy and create 92,000 new jobs.
